Wood and Hume-Vahey were both charged with breaking and entering during daylight with intent to commit a felony. They were being held on $20,000 cash bail at Essex County Correctional Facility and were arraigned on November 29th.
Burglary is the act of entering another person's property, without their permission, with the intent of committing a crime. It should be noted that the commission of a crime, while on the other person's property, does not have to take place in order for an individual to be charged with burglary. There simply must have been an intent to commit a crime. Some of the crimes often associated with burglary are theft, breaking and entering, assault and battery, and more. The circumstances surrounding the burglary will determine whether or not the individual will be facing misdemeanor or felony charges.
