Around 4:30am on the morning of November 11th, a Connecticut man sustained critical injuries when he was ejected from his vehicle after being hit by an alleged OUI driver. Emergency personnel responding to the accident found the victim outside his vehicle and in critical condition. He was rushed to UMass Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle, an Auburn resident, fled the scene of the accident and had to be located by the state police. He is currently being held on bail and scheduled to be arraigned Monday, where he faces charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, OUI causing serious injury, speeding, and a variety of other offenses.
In order to more accurately determine the cause of the accident, troopers from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, members of the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, troopers with the District Attorney's Office, and detectives with the State Police Detective Unit all arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation. Auburn Police and Fire personnel who responded to the accident were also on hand to attempt an accident re-enactment. Actions such as these are crucial in helping to determine the cause of the accident, as well as who should be held liable for the injuries and damages caused.
